The University of South Alabama is joining universities, conferences, bowl games, ESPN and education supporters across the country in an eight-day celebration dedicated to honoring and recognizing great teachers. Extra Yard for Teachers Week is Friday, Sept. 15 through Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023.
Together, we are going big for teachers.
Throughout the week, the college football community goes out of its way to let teachers know they are valued and respected. The University of South Alabama College of Education and Professional Studies and South Alabama Athletics are partnering with the College Football Playoff Foundation to celebrate teachers in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
USA Classroom Project Contest
To show our appreciation, the USA Classroom Project Contest will provide teachers an opportunity to win gift cards. The goal of the classroom project contest is to assist our educators in making a direct impact on student learning. We will provide one $1,000 gift card, one $500 gift card, two $250 gift cards and one $100 gift card to the teachers who submit the best project ideas for classroom enrichment. The five winners will be honored on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 at the Jags vs. Central Michigan football game at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
Classroom Project Contest submission deadline was Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023.
South Alabama Athletics, through the Sun Belt Conference, is also awarding $200 each to 30 teachers to fulfill Amazon wish lists for classroom instruction enhancement projects. Attend the Jags vs. Central Michigan football game at Hancock Whitney Stadium to enter to win. There will be a table at Gate 1 where teachers can enter the drawing. School ID required to register for the drawing.
