CHE 203: Material and Energy Balances

Prerequisites:  General Chemistry II and Calculus II

This course covers foundational chemical engineering principles and is a prerequisite for entry into the junior level curriculum.   You will find it in the fall of the second year of the standard chemical engineering curriculum, but it is taught every semester.  As a transfer student, the important thing for you to note is that it must be taken before the courses in the fall of the curriculum’s third year.  If you transfer in the fall and need CHE 203, it will take three years to graduate, so it’s best plan to take it in the spring or summer semesters.

Other pre-requisite courses for the junior year that can be taken at most community colleges are Organic Chemistry I, Physics (with Calculus) I, and Differential Equations.
