Dear USA Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Throughout the global coronavirus pandemic, the University of South Alabama has closely monitored the virus and adjusted policies and practices with the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff as our highest priority. Based on current COVID-19 trends and vaccine availability, the Department of Health and Human Services ended the federal Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 on May 11, 2023. As a result, the University of South Alabama will discontinue reporting and monitoring of COVID-19 cases, as well as other special policies and practices related to the pandemic.
Students and employees are no longer required to report positive COVID-19 cases. To care for yourself and protect others, continue to follow general hygiene and public health guidelines and seek medical attention if symptoms arise. You are encouraged to stay home when sick and stay up to date on vaccines. Employees, patients and visitors to USA Health facilities, as well as students in clinical healthcare settings, must continue to follow applicable protocols for those sites.
Even though the monitoring of COVID-19 cases is ending, the University of South Alabama remains committed to adapting and responding swiftly to any emerging health issues. We are grateful for the efforts of the entire campus community throughout the pandemic to keep our campus South Strong, together.
