Faculty Senate Awards 2020-2021
SENATE RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING PARTNERS 2020
Throughout the Spring 2021 semester, the USA Faculty Senate awarded four outstanding community and business partners in the Mobile area who enhance the university’s mission of teaching, research and service.

Lori Wichman, DNP, Manager of Clinical Education at Baptist Healthcare in Pensacola, FL, received the Outstanding Research Partner Award for her support of USA’s research mission. She has helped obtain critical data for USA Faculty members pertaining to burnout during COVID and organizational work-life factors. Dr. David Turnipseed nominated Wichman for the award.

Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) and Superintendent, Chresal Threadgill received the Outstanding Teaching Partner Award. MCPSS and USA have partnered together through a Federal grant to create PASSAGE USA, a transition initiative to help students with intellectual disabilities, their parents, and their teachers learn about new post-secondary education opportunities at USA. Dr. Delwar Hossain nominated MCPSS for the award.

The City of Mobile and Mayor Sandy Stimpson received the Outstanding Community Partner Award. Mayor Stimpson’s leadership in conjunction with USA Health to manage pandemic issues and mitigate COVID impact on our community was integral in keeping the citizens of Mobile healthy during the pandemic. Dr. Robert Ross nominated Mayor Stimpson for the award.

FeAunté Preyear, Title IX Investigator at USA, received the Semoon and Youngshin Chang Award for Humanitarian Services. Ms. Preyear has served victims of sexual assault on the campus of USA for years and until recently her work was done on a purely voluntary basis. She has served as chair of the Violence Prevention Alliance and has helped implement Girls’ Night Out and Bro Code here at USA. Her work as a victim advocate is emotionally difficulty work, but it is critically important for the recovery and well-being of sexual assault victims. Dr. Sarah Koon-Magnin nominated Preyear for this award.

The Education Community Partner Award is for providing direct support to the teaching mission of USA faculty, broadly defined, by providing a setting and/or skilled supervision for USA students. This partner enhances the educational mission of the USA faculty by providing internship/externship/field placement to USA students. |
