USA Department of Emergency Medicine
Chair's Message
Welcome to the USA Department of Emergency Medicine website, part of the USA academic health system. We are dedicated to excellence in clinical care, medical education, scientific discovery, and service. Our program includes emergency departments at two hospitals in the health system (USA Health University Hospital and USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital) and also a Freestanding ED, which see a combined volume of approximately 100,000 visits. USA Health is the only academic medical system in the region and has the only tertiary referral hospitals. They provide several unique regional medical resources including Level I trauma care, regional burn care, interventional stroke program, regional Level III neonatal care, and others. The Emergency Department at Children's & Women's Hospital is the only pediatric ED for the entire region.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has undergone substantial academic growth since 2016, with the addition of many new faculty and the development of new programs. These include a Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, a new Emergency Medicine Residency training program, as well as a clinical research program. The openings of our new state-of-the-art Trauma Emergency Department in 2021 and a new Pediatric ED in 2024 allow us to care for a broader range of patients in our region and beyond.
This website includes links to detailed information regarding our programs, faculty and the institution. Specifically, the link to our residency program will provide the latest information regarding our accreditation and the application process.
Thank you for your interest in the USA Department of Emergency Medicine.
