Welcome to the University of South Alabama College of Nursing Preceptor Portal. Preceptors are invaluable to the future of nursing. We appreciate the ongoing collaboration and supervision preceptors provide to our nursing students. We understand how important the preceptor is in developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of that nursing students need for their future nursing role.
This preceptor portal offers free preceptor CE, preceptor education, and tax credit program information.
Free Preceptor CE
- University of South Alabama College of Nursing Project ECHO® Series – 1-1.5 hour per live session
- Telehealth: California State University Advanced Nursing Education Workforce – 1 hour
- Precepting Graduate Nursing Students: University of Illinois College of Nursing – 8.25 hours
- National STD Curriculum: University of Washington STD Prevention Training Center- 1-2 hours per course
- Opioid Use Disorders: Providers Clinical Support System – 1 hour per course

Alabama Preceptor Tax Credit Incentive Program
If you are a preceptor in Alabama and you do not receive compensation for teaching from any source, please sign up to receive your Alabama Preceptor Credit documentation through the Alabama Preceptor Tax Incentive Program. The College of Nursing documents preceptor time in APTIP each semester.
Maryland Income Tax Credit for Preceptors
If you are a preceptor in Maryland and meet the Health Care Workforce Shortage Program eligibility, please email conclinicaladmin@southalabama.edu for Part 3: Proof of Preceptorship.

You are required to have one year of experience to become a preceptor to future students. If you have less than one year of experience, we will keep your name on file and contact you at a future date
