Annual Space Survey
University of South Alabama property is centralized at the Office of the President, but the stewardship of campus space is decentralized to deans and senior administrators. University Space Planning is the responsible office for maintaining inventory and tracking utilization of academic and administrative facilities on the University of South Alabama’s main campus as well as off-campus facilities that are owned by the university. Annual space surveys help USA maintain accurate records of space assignments and room usage so that facilities planning, budgeting, compliance, maintenance, and capital decisions are based on reliable information. Since space is one of the University’s largest and most expensive resources, accurate annual verification helps ensure it is used safely, efficiently, and in support of the University’s mission. These surveys are also important for supporting federal research funding, because accurate space-use data helps document research activity, support facilities and administrative cost calculations, and demonstrate responsible stewardship of federally sponsored programs.Procedures
