Angela Jordan has been with the Office of Research and Economic Development since 2016. She provides leadership for a department that supports proposal development, research collaborations, ORED internal competitions, funding opportunity identification, limited submissions, faculty development programming, and research communications.
She joined South in 2013 to do proposal development for USA's School of Computing. In the ensuing years she has worked with faculty and staff from across the university on submissions to a variety of federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation; the departments of Education, Justice, State, and Transportation; the Federal Aviation Administration; Strategic Capabilities Office; NASA; the National Institutes of Health; Health Resources and Services Administration; National Endowment for the Humanities; National Park Service; and Office of Research Integrity.
Angela has a Ph.D. in instructional design from USA's College of Education. Her dissertation research created a faculty training model for community engaged team science. She previously earned ABD status for a PhD in English literature from Indiana University, and has a BA in English with a concentration in fiction writing from Northwestern University. At Indiana University she taught English for five years. She is a proud first generation college student.
She is an active member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals and current co-chair of the Mentoring Committee. In 2025 she was honored with the organization's Mentoring Award.

Heather McCollum

With more than 22 years of experience in communications and marketing, Heather has built her career around project management and strategic communications, leading initiatives that bridge research, education, and public engagement.
A proud alumna of the University of South Alabama, Heather earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Communications with a minor in English in 2003 and holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Development. In her current role, she supports the advancement of research initiatives through effective communication strategies, program development, and collaborative learning opportunities and events.
She is an active member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals.

Trinity Walker
Proposal Editor
Trinity Walker is in her second and final year of the Master of Arts program in creative writing, where she is honing her craft as an aspiring Southern fiction novelist. She previously worked in the Center for Academic Excellence as a writing tutor and specializes in both APA and MLA styles. Last school year, Trinity served as Editor-in-Chief of the Oracle: Fine Arts Review—the university’s official literary journal. She was also accepted to attend the annual Longleaf Writers Conference as a scholar this past May. Most recently, Trinity was the Editorial Intern for Mobile Bay Magazine. After graduation this coming spring, she hopes to either pursue an MFA, or dive into her dream career in publishing.
