Peer Observation Program

The Innovation in Learning Center supports multiple opportunities for faculty to receive feedback on their teaching. Peer observation provides a structured process for colleagues to observe teaching practices, share perspectives, and engage in dialogue about teaching. The ILC also facilitates formative feedback opportunities, such as informal classroom observation and Small Group Instructional Feedback (SGIF), to help faculty better understand students’ learning experiences and identify areas for instructional improvement.

Open Classroom Initiative

Open Classroom Initiative — This program will provide opportunities for colleagues to experience different teaching practices, get inspired by new teaching ideas, and engage in dialogue about teaching, all through friendly classroom visits.

Observation with an SGIF

Classroom observations provide confidential, formative feedback on teaching practices and Small Group Instructional Feedback (SGIF) is a mid-course check-in process designed to gather information from students on their learning experience

Peer Review of Teaching

Peer Review of Teaching — This University Teaching Effectiveness Policy incorporates the use of Peer Observation. Each college has developed its own implementation plan. Check with your college dean’s office to learn more about it.
